Universities ranking

A US educational organisation conducted a survey last year that has ranked the Quaid-i-Azam University at 496th among the 500 best Global Universities. Such a standing, I am sure, would have greatly displeased Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Pakistan has a high youth population i.e. nearly 60 per cent. It is sad that our authorities and planners do not accord education due importance over other priorities, like mass transit and state-of-art hospitals. They seem to have forgotten that an educated people guarantee a progressive and prosperous state.

There is no lack of potential or competence in Pakistan. What is lacking is the conviction and political will to address the education sector’s problems.
