Regional Math Challenge competition concludes
ISLAMABAD: The regional Math Challenge competition concluded on Friday with students of EMS High School winning the contest.
The regional round of the Math Challenge competition 2018 was held at the International Islamic University’s Faisal campus in which students of 20 schools participated. Those who took part in the regional round had qualified by winning the first round.
The participants were divided in two groups, one consisting of students from class seven and eight and the other, students of class nine and 10. According to one of the organisers of the event, Anam Butt, EMS students one in both groups while students of Westminster and Siddeeq Public School for Rawalpindi were runners up in group one and Westminster students were runners up in group two.
EMS students who won the competition include ninth grader Ali Abdullah, 10th grader Zizalia Siddiqui, seventh grader Abdullah Masood and eighth grader Ziad Rayyan Khan.
The runners up include Esha Amjad from class seven and M. Ayyan Naeem from class eight from Westminster and Saim Ahmed from class seven and Ehtesham Mehfooz from class eight from Siddeeq School.
The math challenge is an inter-school competition organised by the Dawn Media Group and EDeQUAL all over Pakistan for students of class seven through to class 10. More than 150 students from across the country are participating in the event. Last month, 6,500 students from various schools had participated in the first round.
The contest is conducted by using the latest quiz technology systems and technology enabled learning.
The schools, which participated in the regional event on Friday included International School, The City School Capital Campus, EMS High School (Girls and Boys Campus), Siddeeq Public Schools (all campuses) Bahria Foundation College from Attock, Quaid-i-Azam Public School Swabi (boys) and the Quaid-i-Azam school Zaida (boys).
