Chaos within MQM

THE MQM is undergoing a transition in thought, ideology and outlook in view of the changed circumstances and realities. Mohajirs are no more attracted by the old slogans of the quota system or victimisation by Sindhis or any other ethnic group as they prefer to join the corporate sector on merit.

They also prefer to be called Pakistanis rather than Mohajirs as they are the sons of the soil and don’t like the stigma of being called Mohajirs.

They are educated, progressive and comprise people who believe in the larger national interest rather than in divisive politics.

Keeping this new orientation of the MQM, the people of Karachi should reject the old retrogressive and retrograde leadership and bring in some young, dynamic and broad-minded leaders who truly represent the aspirations of youngsters.

THE MQM has been facing a nightmare for the last one or so year. No one could believe the way the MQM is being engineered and transformed. The party is rapidly losing its hold on the land where it came into being in 1984.

Recent tensions on senate tickets could be the last nail in the MQM’s coffin as all party leaders can no longer be on the same page.

This way the MQM will lose its dominant position in cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas. This will help parties like the PPP and the PSP.

People of Karachi are having a peaceful life nowadays owing to the MQM’s ‘engineered’ decline. The PSP is now being considered the new MQM, but the PSP leadership is also not free from criminal charges. The PSP leadership should also pay the price for being the associates of the MQM in the past.
