Committees formed for trials ahead of 17th Sindh Games

KARACHI: Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mohammad Bakhsh Mehar on Monday announced that committees under the supervision of divisional commissioners will hold trials at their respective divisions ahead of the 17th Sindh Games.

“We not only want to promote message of brotherhood among players of the province through Sindh Games but also to provide a platform and infrastructure for players to polish and display their talent,” Mehar said on the occasion.

He further said that to hunt fresh talent, no compromise should be done during trials. “Moreover, before appointing technical officials, their expertise and experience should also be importance.”

The meeting was also attended by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Sindh Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi, Director Sindh Sports Board Shahzad Pervaiz, Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) Vice Chairman Asif Azeem, SOA Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, Ghulam Mohammad Khan, Khalid Rehmani, Asghar Baloch and Makhdoom Irshad.

Dr Niaz told the participants of the meeting that the objective of formation of committees under the supervision of commissioners was to select players on the basis of merit and to provide transport to players and officials back and forth from divisional headquarter to Karachi.

“For this, a budget of Rs4.2 million has been approved, which will be transferred into accounts of divisional commissioners,” he said.

It was also decided in the meeting that local players would receive daily allowance of Rs200 while outstation players would receive Rs300 during the trials.

He added that preparations for the trials were underway at venues. “The players will be provided with all facilities at the venues. Moreover, data would also be made of all players participating in the Sindh Games.
