Organising Sindh Games ‘top priority’ for sports minister

KARACHI: Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mohammad Baksh Khan Mehar said on Wednesday that organising the Sindh Games has been his top priority as he vowed to promote sports and provide top-class infrastructure to players in the province.

“Sports Department, Government Sindh and the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) would together organise the Sindh Games in a befitting manner,” Mehar said during the 17th Sindh Games organ­ising committee meeting.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Niaz Abbasi, officials of SOA and Sindh Sports Department were also present on the occasion.

Members of different committees of Sindh Games briefed the minister about the progress for holding of the Games.

Meanwhile, Dr Niaz gave details about the Games, which will be held here at the National Coaching Centre which will see nearly 3,000 players and officials take part. There will be 30 different events for men and 16 for women.

Dr Niaz further added that the sports minister will meet the chief minister in this week to announce the dates for the Games.
