US sees fall in tourist arrivals since Trump assumed presidency

NEW YORK: In the aftermath of Trump presidency, there has been a sharp decline in tourism of foreign travellers to the US due to the reality of Donald Trump as president.

It is not boding quite as well for the American economy, Money magazine said calling it the “Trump Slump”.

The magazine said the so-called “Trump Bump” may be pushing the stock market to record highs but it is having reverse effect in the US tourism.

The rise of Trump, and specifically his policies on immigration and the Muslim ban, appears to be causing some foreign tourists to rethink plans to visit the US Search engines reported a steep decline in international travellers looking for flights to America immediately after Trump issued a controversial order banning refugees and immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries in early 2017. Money said adding many overseas-based tour operators noticed a sharp dip in bookings to the US around this time as well.
