PML-N workers demand removal of KP governor

KHAR: Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders on Sunday demanded of the party’s central leadership to remove the governor from the office immediately.

Addressing a news conference here, PML-N Bajaur chapter leaders, including general secretary Gul Kareem Khan, Sadiq Akbar, Haji Abdul Manan, Rohul Ameen, Yousaf Khan, Gulam Yousaf and others said the governor had failed to address the problems facing the tribesmen.

They were of the view that the people of tribal areas in general and PML-N workers in particular had attached great expectations to Mr Jhagra that he would work for ensuring good governance in the region, but to no avail. They pointed out that corruption and mismanagement had significantly increased in all the government departments, while merit and transparency were violated in appointments. They said the governor had closed his eyes on corruption and mismanagement in departments.

The PML-N leaders said Mr Jhagra was unaware of problems of tribesmen as he seldom visited the tribal region to get first-hand knowledge of the problems. They said that party’s lawmakers and workers were ignored in decisions regarding development schemes.

They requested the prime minister and PML-N central leadership to remove the governor and appoint an honest, competent and people-friendly man to the post.

They also threatened to launch a movement to push for removal of the governor from the post.
