THE residents of North Nazimabad Blocks H and L, near Five Star Chowrangi, are living in extremely unhygienic and insanitary conditions owing to clogged gutters and overflowing sewerage lines.

For almost a month now, the residents of more than 350 houses spread over 30 streets in these two blocks have been complaining to the civic authorities of choked gutters beginning to overflow on the streets.

This once peaceful residential locality is a victim of commercialisation. A food street has developed along the main road separating the two blocks and now there are more than 50 restaurants and cafes plying their trade in the locality. To add to the old residents’ woes are the highrises that have been built. They have put tremendous load on civic amenities of the area.

The affected residents have lodged many complaints with the civic authorities, but the issue is yet to be resolved. I request the city mayor to visit the area and resolve the issue as soon as possible.
