Banks urged to lift agri lending in Balochistan

QUETTA: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) jointly organised a workshop with representatives of 10 leading banks in Balochistan and farmers from a range of male and female Farmers Marketing Collectives (FMC).

The objective of this event was to showcase economically viable agri business cases developed through the USAID-supported Balochistan Agriculture Project (BAP) in the eight northern and through Australia Balochistan Agri Business Programme (AusABBA) in the six southern districts of the province.

These business cases, owned and operated by organised farmers, are ready for upscaling their production but urgently require bank credit to grow.
