Inter-Korea dialogue

APROPOS the letter on this subject (Jan 15). The writer has compared the two Koreas with Pakistan and India. The matter is not as simple as the writer has made it out.

Pakistan and India were divided on the basis of the two-nation theory, and our differences and disputes are very complex and acute.

India has occupied Kashmir, and New Delhi has refused to grant the Kashmiri people their right of self-determination. That is not all.

The Indians refuse to interact with Pakistan on all fora. They refuse to have any sports inter-action. They don’t grant visas to our players and to pilgrims wanting to visit shrines.

All Pakistanis have an earnest desire for peace but it can’t be achieved by unilateral efforts.
