Two SHOs removed for ‘poor’ performance

ISLAMABAD: Two station house officers of the capital police were removed from their offices after their performance was deemed unsatisfactory.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sajid Kiani removed SHO Sabzi Mandi Inspector Sajjad Haider and SHO Industrial Area Inspector Ghulam Qasim and both the officers were transferred to Rescue 15.

Inspectors Asjad Mehmood and Khalid Mehmood were appointed SHOs Sabzi Mandi and Industrial Area respectively.

According to officials Dawn spoke to, Inspector Khalid Mehmood was recently suspended as SHO Aabpara and is facing an inquiry which was initiated on the orders of the inspector general of police (IGP) Islamabad for allegedly helping a group occupy a house in G-6/4 last month and registering a false FIR against the owner of the property.

The incident had led to many people being injured and the registration of three cases in the Aabpara police station.

The matter was brought into the notice of IGP Dr Sultan Azam Temuri who ordered an inquiry and ordered the assistant IGP to probe the matter.

The initial inquiry suggested mala fide intention on the part of police officers who misused their power to get the house vacated and sealed and also registered fake cases against those who had possession of the house.

The IGP had suspended all officials involved. A detailed inquiry is in process.
