PA session postponed hours after announcement

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s secretariat on Saturday announced postponing the assembly’s 34th session – a few hours after the governor summoned it for Jan 15 (Monday).

While a gazette notification was issued for the 34th session of the Punjab Assembly, the assembly secretariat has notified its postponement.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed reacted to the postponement of the assembly session.

He said the Punjab government was afraid of calling the assembly session as the chief minister had nothing to say in the cases of sexual assault and terrorism in Punjab.

He said there were claims that billions of rupees had been squandered out of the exchequer after creating 56 companies in the province.

The opposition leader said, “the chief minister constitutes committees headed by his ministers and sweeps the matter under the carpet.”

Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said the opposition parties would call the “assembly session” on its stairs, if it did not call the session formally during the ongoing month.
