Indian envoy summoned over woman’s killing

ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministry on Friday said that Indian troops opened fire on people in Azad Kashmir, killing a 65-year-old woman.

Pakistani officials said that Thursday’s shooting was the latest ceasefire violation by India in the village of Kot Kotera.

According to a statement, the foreign ministry summoned an Indian diplomat to lodge a protest over the killing.

There was no immediate comment from New Delhi.

Pakistan says India has violated the Kashmir ceasefire 70 times so far this month.

Pakistan and India often accuse each other of ceasefire violations on both sides of the Line of Control.
