Low gas pressure triggers protests

PESHAWAR: The residents of various localities here on Friday held protest demonstrations against low pressure of natural gas and demanded of high ups of SNGPL to take prompt action and ensure smooth gas supply to the consumers.

The consumers belonging to Warsak Road held a demonstration at Kababyan and shouted slogans against the federal government. They said the supply of natural gas was next to nil and the officials concerned were not paying attention to resolve the problem.

The protesters said that gas supply was suspended in the peak morning and evening hours making lives of consumers miserable as they were unable to cook food and, as a result, the students and employees of various government and private departments had to leave houses without having breakfast. The protesters were led by the activists of different political parties.

Similarly, the residents of different sectors of Hayatabad also demonstrated outside the SNGPL office against low gas pressure. They said since the start of winter season the people were experiencing low gas pressure which had forced them to seek alternative sources for cooking food.

The protesters demanded of the officials concerned to remove whatever was the fault otherwise they would start demonstrations on a daily basis.
