Quetta collectorate surpasses target revenue collection

QUETTA: Revenue collection by the city’s Model Customs Collectorate in October-December surpassed its target by 52 per cent.

It collected Rs6.5 billion as customs duty, sales tax, withholding tax and federal excise duty (FED) against the target of 4.24bn.

Its collection during the same period of the preceding year was Rs3.73bn.

Quetta Model Customs Collectorate Collector Ashraf Ali said on Thursday that growth in revenue collection is reflective of better enforcement and assessment measures.

Data showed collection of customs duty amounted to Rs2.65bn, sales tax Rs2.6bn, FED Rs85 million and withholding tax Rs1.08bn during the quarter.

Mr Ali also praised the anti-smuggling division of the collectorate. Goods recovered at customs check-posts and by mobile squads were worth Rs481.68m during the quarter.

Major goods seized during this period included tyres, cloth, diesel, spare parts, fertilisers, cigarettes, pan parag and non-customs-paid vehicles. Goods recovered during the same period of the previous fiscal year were worth Rs444.32m.
