Daylight robberies on rise in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The daylight robberies are on the rise in posh localities of Abbottabad, but the police have failed to arrest the gang involved.

An employee of an educational institution was deprived of his motorbike and Rs10,000 cash by a five-member gang of robbers at gunpoint at the busy Jab Pull on the main Mansehra Road when he was going home at around 3pm on Friday.

A case was registered in Mirpur police station.

The family of a journalist was also robbed by the same gang in Bilal Town on Dec 6. The gangsters locked inmates in a room of the house and looted 35 tola gold, 10 tola silver and Rs50,000.

An FIR was lodged in Nawan Sher police station but police have yet to recover stolen gold, money and arrest the culprits.

Due to the frequent theft and robbery cases in posh localities of Abbottabad, people feel insecure and have demanded of the police to provide protection to citizens and their properties.

Several cases of mobile snatching have not been reported by the victims due to a lack of trust on the police and procedural complexities adopted by the police.
