FBR asked to sustain rise in tax collection

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has asked the top management of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to review the performance of regional tax offices and ensure the ongoing momentum in revenue collection.

An official statement issued on Saturday said that on the direction of the premier, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan held a meeting with chief commissioners of eight regional tax offices (RTOs) in Lahore.

Mr Khan was tasked by the premier to visit RTOs across the country to encourage senior officers to maintain growth in revenue collection in months ahead.

Mr Khan called on the FBR field formations to maintain the ongoing momentum and ensure at least 19 per cent growth in revenue collection in the next three quarters. He urged them to meet the collection target in the second quarter.
