Trump’s decision

PRESIDENT Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel comes at a time when the political situation is undergoing a change in the Middle East.

Turkey, once a US ally, has threatened to sever its diplomatic ties with Israel if Trump moves the assembly to occupied Jerusalem.

The already unstable Middle East is on the brink of a greater crisis in the wake of Trump’s unfortunate recognition of Jerusalem as the Jewish state’s capital.

He is doing this to appease a country which has long been accused of persecution and illegal occupation of Palestinian lands.

The Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League have virtually become obsolete and toothless in dealing with Palestine and Kashmir issues.

It’s time we did a little bit of introspection with respect to the issues confronting the Muslims.

DONALD Trump’s decision of recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has certainly raised questions about America’s role as peacemaker.

On the other hand, the role of the Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia is questionable as a former Israeli minister had claimed that Saudi Arabia doesn’t care about Palestinians as long Israel supports it against Iran.

It is time Muslims got united to support Palestinians, Kashmiris and Rohingya Muslims.
