Pakistan, India clash in Blind World Cup opener

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will lock horns with arch-rivals India on Jan 8 in Lahore in the opener of the 2018 ODI World Cup Cricket of the Blind.

The event is going to be staged in Pakistan and the UAE.

The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) announced the schedule of the World Cup Cricket of the Blind, the fifth edition of the event, which will be held from Jan 7 to 21, said a press release issued here on Thursday.

After the opening ceremony takes place in Lahore and Ajman on Jan 7, the inaugural match of the World Cup will be played between Pakistan and India at the Gaddafi Stadium the next day.

On the same day, another match will be held between Nepal and Bangladesh at Lahore’s Bagh-e-Jinnah.

Pakistan will face Bangla­desh on Jan 9 at Gujran­wala’s Jinnah Stadium while India will play against Nepal at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Australia take on Sri Lanka in Ajman, UAE on the same date.

The final of the World Cup will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium on Jan 21.
