Missing man found dead

RAWALPINDI: The body of a man, who had been missing for the last two days, was found from an underground septic tank on Monday.

According to the investigating officer, it seems to be a case of money extortion. Aftab Ahmed, 46, had hired a mason named Nadeem to carry out renovation work at his house some three months ago.

Seeing that the man was well-off, the accused chalked out a plan to extort money from him, the officer said.

Under the plan, the accused got a house on rent on Adiala Road, and later invited Aftab to his house.

The investigating officer said the deceased went to Nadeem’s house where he was offered tea that had been drugged.

He fainted soon after taking tea and when things did not go according to plan, the accused killed him with an axe.

He dumped the body into an underground spectic tank at his house which he then covered with tiles.

Aftab Ahmed’s family reported to Saddar Bairooni police when he did not return and a search was launched.

During the search, the police found Aftab’s car on Adiala Road. Police said after the mobile phone data of the deceased was obtained, it emerged that he had been with Nadeem when he went missing.

On interrogation, Nadeem confessed to killing Aftab and dumping his body into the septic tank.

Later, the body was recovered by the police and handed over to his family. The alleged killer was formally arrested and remanded into police custody.
