Pakistan veterans complete unbeaten tour of Sri Lanka

KARACHI: Pakistan Veterans cricket team returned home here the other day after completing a successful tour of Sri Lanka where they won all four matches.

In their final fixture, Pakistan Veterans defeated their Sri Lankan counterparts by four wickets at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa on the outskirts of Colombo.

Sri Lanka Veterans, batting first, collected 221 in 33.6 overs. Opener Shane Fernando continued his fine form in the series and scored a brilliant 107 off 89 balls with 10 fours and three sixes to follow his knock of 90 in the second game.

Athula Gijchramaratna scored 31 in 32 balls with five fours.

Imtiaz Tarar bowled superbly to claim four wickets for 28 runs and Zafar Ali took 2-43.

Pakistan Veterans knocked off the required runs in 31.5 overs by collecting 222-6. Ghulam Ali (26) and Nadeem Omar (25) shared a good opening partnership of 54 before all-rounder Asim Jah blasted an undefeated 76 from 52 balls with the aid of seven fours and two sixes.

Dastagir Butt continuing his brilliant form by making 44 off 43 balls with five fours as he helped Asim put on 122 for the unbroken seventh-wicket stand.

Angelo Dissanayake and Deepal Madurappruma took three wickets each for 21 and 54 runs, respectively, for the home side.

At the end of the match prize distribution ceremony was held.

Imtiaz Tarar was declared the man of the final match.Dastageer Butt (311 runs) Man of the Series, Asim Jah (178 runs and 4 wickets) Best Allrounder, Fawad Ijaz Khan (9 wickets) Best Bowler, Ghulam Ali (197 runs) Best Batsman and Zafar Ali Best Bowler were declared of the four-match series.
