Need stressed for protecting human rights

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Raheela Hameed Durrani has underlined the need for protecting human rights in order to establish a civilised society.

Speaking at the function arranged by the Ministry of Human Rights to mark the International Human Rights Day here on Sunday, she said that the Constitution had guaranteed protection of human rights without any discrimination.“We must keep a balance between our rights and responsibilities,” she said.

The speaker said the Balochistan government was determined to protecting human rights in the province and was taking steps for the dignity of citizens.

Referring to the issues of Kashmir, Palestine and Afghanistan, she said there were reports of massive human rights violations in these places but the international community was not taking notice of situations there. She condemned atrocities against Rohingya Muslims by Myanmar’s security forces.
