Jaffarabad police recover two kidnapped traders

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Jaffarabad police on Sunday recovered two abducted businessmen and arrested a suspect believed to be involved in their kidnapping.

Ejaz Ahmed and Elahi Bakhsh were kidnapped along with their vehicle when they came to Dera Allahyar on a business trip, said Jaffarabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police Tariq Elahi Mastoi.

According to him, police blocked the routes linking Jaffarabad district with the neighbouring areas of Sindh and raided a place in Gandakha area where the kidnappers opened fire on the raiding party.

Police retaliated and an exchange of fire ensued between police and kidnappers. At the end of the shootout, police succeeded in recovering the two abductees and arresting the main suspect who was later identified as Mir Gul.

“He is involved in the kidnapping for ransom incidents,” SSP Mastoi said, adding that the kidnappers’ gang was trying to shift the victims to Sindh.

Some snatched motorcycles and a tractor were also recovered from the hideout of the kidnappers, he said.
