Russia to delay pact with Iran

MOSCOW, Aug 29: Moscow announced on Friday that it would delay until the end of the year signing a key agreement with Tehran that would launch Iran’s first nuclear reactor.

The unexpected statement from Russia’s atomic energy ministry appeared to be a direct concession to frequently-expressed US and Israeli concerns that the project could help Iran develop a nuclear weapons programme.—AFP
