Afghan man stabbed to death in Saddar hotel room

KARACHI: An Afghan man was found murdered in a Saddar hotel room on Friday, police said.

They said that the body of 20-year-old Siddiqullah, an Afghan national, was recovered from a room on the fourth floor of a local hotel within the remit of the Preedy police station.

He was stabbed to death, police said, adding that he worked at a restaurant and lived in the hotel.

Saddar SP Tauqeer Naeem said that the murder appeared to be an outcome of some personal enmity.

He added that the deceased’s father seemed reluctant to share any information with the police and took the body to Afghanistan for burial.

Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

A suspected robber was killed in an alleged encounter in Lyari on Friday evening.

Police said acting on a tip-off a team of law enforcers tried to arrest two suspects near Khyber Chowk within the remit of the Napier police station. However, they fired at the police and tried to escape.

Napier SHO Azam Khan said that the police returned fire and one suspect, identified as Asif Nawaz, was killed. However, his accomplice managed to escape in narrow streets.

He said that the suspects were allegedly involved in the killing of a man during a robbery bid some seven months ago.

The body was shifted to the Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
