ADR centre settles 100 cases in one week

JHANG: The Jhang alternative dispute resolution (ADR) centre has resolved 100 cases in the first week of its inception.

The centre helps people resolve their civil, family, juvenile and other matters in a less adversarial setting to save time and money of litigants.

District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Munir Ahmed told a seminar at the district bar library on Wednesday the decision to establish ADR centres in Punjab was taken after observing positive results of such centres in other countries to dispense speedy justice.

He suggested the litigants to first try the ADR centre before moving civil courts for quick disposal of the case.

He said helping the disputing parties to reach reconciliation was as per the teaching of Islam.

Senior Civil Judge Waqar Mansoor and District Bar Association President Munir Ahmed Sadhana spoke on the importance and the ADR centre.

RESCUE: The Punjab Emergency Service finalised arrangements to provide emergency cover to processions of Eid Miladun Nabi in the district.

District Emergency Officer Engrr Ali Hassanin told a media briefing on Wednesday that a comprehensive duty roster has already been planned for the sacred event, adding that special emergency posts would function on the day. He said the emergency service would be on high alert with trained paramedical rescue staff and fully equipped emergency vehicles to meet any eventuality.

The leaves of the rescuers have been restricted and they have been assigned special emergency duties to cover the gatherings effectively.
