Chairman wants to build people-friendly image for NAB

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal has instructed the bureau’s officers to work for building the image of NAB as a people-friendly organisation.

Talking to NAB officers at the bureau’s headquarters recently, Mr Iqbal said he had decided to evaluate himself their performance and take decisions on cases of appointments, promotions and seniority.

He directed them to file cases in courts after collecting sufficient evidence along with relevant details. The culture of a police station in NAB would be tolerated, he said, adding that the bureau officials would now take care of everyone’s self-respect as the law prohibits them from the misuse of their authority. “Now a change will be visible in working of NAB.”

Mr Iqbal said the nation had pinned its hopes on NAB for the elimination of corruption from the country, adding that the bureau’s officers must adhere themselves to the law of the land to achieve this goal.

He said that inefficient and corrupt officers would have no place in NAB and added that honesty, efficiency and professional competence would be encouraged in the organisation.

He said the performance would be the only criterion for promotion of an officer, adding that no one would be discriminated against.

He said corruption could be eliminated from the country with iron hands. “Corruption can be eliminated from the country by strictly observing a zero tolerance policy,” he added.

The NAB chairman stressed the need for giving more attention to mega corruption cases and white collar crimes.
