Protest against water shortage in Gwadar

GWADAR: Local bodies’ representatives, workers of political parties and the people of Gwadar, including women and children, staged a sit-in and blocked the airport road on Tuesday in protest against non-supply of drinking water through tankers in the port city.

Political parties and local government representatives have given a strike call on the eve of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s visit to Gwadar on Wednesday.

The protestors gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s office and blocked the main road linking the city with airport. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands, the protesters chanted slogans against the government and local administration.

Addressing the protesters, National Party leader Aziza Baloch and councillor Ruquia Baloch said the people of Gwadar city and other areas of the district were being denied water supply through tankers.
