Bank investments fall 0.01pc

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended November 03, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,783.372bn after a 0.05pc increase over the preceding week’s figure of Rs11,777.383bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs10,407.608bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 13.22pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,694.161bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs11,692.887bn, showing a rise of 0.01pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs89.210bn, higher by 5.58pc against previous week’s figure of Rs84.496bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,602.490bn, lower by 0.56pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,696.065bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 18.05pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs14,063.739bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased by 3.98pc in the week under review

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,322.326bn, lower by 0.64pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,427.481bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs280.164bn, were higher 4.31pc over the previous week’s Rs.268.584bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 3.98pc to Rs2,672.467bn against previous week’s Rs2,783.256bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1,638.999bn, current week’s figure is higher by63.05pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,577.105bn were lower by 4.36pc against previous week’s Rs2,694.624bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs95.362bn against the previous week’s figure of Rs88.633bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,340.840bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,341.985bn, lower by 0.01pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,172.266bn, current week’s figure is higher by 16.30pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,260.693bn, lower by 0.12pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,270.936bn.
