Lawyers continue to boycott courts in Balochistan

QUETTA: Lawyers continued to boycott court proceedings for the second consecutive day in Quetta and other cities of the province on Friday in protest against the murder of Advocate Muhammad Adil who was gunned down along with his father, acting SP Investigation Mohammad Ilyas, mother and son, on Wednesday.

The Balochistan Bar Association (BBA), Balochistan Bar Council (BBC) and Balochistan High Court Bar Association (BHCBA) called for a three-day strike in protest against the murder.

Leaders of the BBA, BBC, BHCBA and other lawyers’ bodies strongly condemned the incident. They demanded that those responsible for the killings should be arrested without any delay.

Mr Adil, his father, mother and son were gunned down by motorcyclists in the Nawan Killi area when they were travelling in a car. A four-year-old girl was also injured in the attack and admitted to the civil hospital. Quetta DIG Abdul Razzak Cheema said SP Ilyas was targeted when he was coming to Quetta from the Nawan Killi area.
