Qavi granted bail day after extension of remand

MULTAN: A district and sessions court on Tuesday granted bail to Mufti Abdul Qavi, an accused in Qandeel Baloch murder case.

The court granted bail to Mufti Qavi against a surety bond of Rs200,000.

On Monday, a judicial magistrate had extended his judicial remand for one week.

In his bail application, Mufti Qavi stated that his name was included in the case with a mala fide intention through an interim statement despite the fact there was no evidence against him.

Qavi’s lawyers informed the court that another accused Aslam Shaheen, the elder brother of the deceased, was granted bail by the LHC without investigating him.

They said the deceased’s father in the FIR informed the police that his son killed his daughter on the instigation of his other sons while main accused Waseem, the brother of Qandeel, confessed [before the police and media] that he himself killed his sister and did not mention Mufti Qavi.

Qandeel Baloch was allegedly strangled on July 16, 2016, by her brother Waseem.
