Injured sanitation worker also dies

RAWALPINDI: A sanitation worker who was shot and injured by unidentified motorbike riders in Sadiqabad on Saturday died in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) on Tuesday.

Saqib Hussain and Asif Masih were cleaning a street in Sadiqabad when they were shot dead. While escaping from the spot, the gunmen also targeted Mr Arshad, who was sitting in the driving seat of the sanitation department truck.

The injured was taken to the BBH where he could not regained consciousness despite efforts by the doctors for four days and died on Tuesday afternoon.

After this, the death toll in the latest attack on sanitation workers in the city increased to three.

Six sanitation workers have been killed in a similar manner in Sadiqabad since June.

On the other hand, sources said a police inquiry committee would be arriving in Rawalpindi from Lahore soon to investigate the killing of the sanitation workers.
