Governor appreciates Turkey’s support in tiring times

KARACHI: Sindh Gov­ernor Muhammad Zubair on Friday appreciated the support extended by Turkey to Pakistan in its tiring times and also against all odds.

He was speaking to a Turkish delegation comprising officials of the departments of finance and economics as well as investors and businessmen who called on him at the Governor House.

Federal Minister for Trade and Industries Pervaiz Malik and other senior officials were also present.

“Bilateral relations between the two countries are gaining stability with every passing day,” the governor told the delegation attending the ongoing Rising Pakistan Expo’ in the metropolis.“An important aspect of Pakistan-Turkey relations is that they are based on mutual respect,” he said acknowledging that Pakistan has learnt and can still learn a lot from the development and progress made by Turkey.

The governor said that fast unfolding situation in the world made it all the important that the two brotherly countries forged further unity in their ranks.

“We need to enhance people-to-people contact besides constant exchange of delegations of professionals and citizens from different walks of life so that mutual confidence gains all the more strength.”

Mr Zubair said strong presence of participants from across the world in the expo was reflective of the fact that Pakistan was on its track to development.

Following restoration of law and order in Karachi, the government was now extensively focused on public welfare projects as well as infrastructure development in the metropolis, the commercial hub of the country, he told the delegation.

The delegation led by M. Balta said Turkey and its people held Pakistanis in a high esteem.

He agreed that in the changing environment of the present day world, it was equally beneficial for the two countries to strengthen their economic and trade relations.

Mr Balta said investors from his country were keenly interested in initiating feasible projects, in varied sectors of Pakistan.
