Qavi’s remand extended for four days

MULTAN: A trail court on Monday extended physical remand of Mufti Abdul Qavi, a suspect in Qandeel Baloch murder case.

Police appeared before the court of judicial magistrate Muhammad Parvaiz and demanded extension in the physical remand of the cleric while informing the court that the suspect was admitted to hospital.

The court refused to extend the remand, saying the extension could only be granted in the presence of the suspect.

Police brought Mufti Qavi on ambulance from Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology (CPEIC) where he had been admitted after he complained of pain in his chest.

The court extended the physical remand for four days and directed the police to present him on Oct 27.

CPEIC Executive Director Dr Rana Altaf said the angiography of Mufti Qavi was conducted on Monday and the doctors decided to discharge him today (Tuesday).

“There is no need to insert stent and treatment will be done through medicines,” he said.Police launched the investigation against Mufti Qavi under Section 109 (abetting in crime) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Qandeel Baloch was found strangled in her house in Multan’s Karimabad area on July 16 last year. Her father claimed that she had been killed by her younger brother, Waseem, in the name of honour.
