Rangreza adds colour to Pakistani cinema

KARACHI: The trailer launch of Amir Mohiuddin’s Rangreza was a star-studded affair, held in a local five-star hotel on Sunday. The film’s producers, cast and crew, as well as the who’s who of the film and TV industry, attended the event where the star cast of Bilal Ashraf, Gohar Rasheed and Urwa Hocane were the focus of everyone’s attention.

There were actors from other upcoming films such as Ali Rehman Khan from Parchi, Jawed Sheikh from Wujood, Humayun Saeed and Mawra Hocane from Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, and Hania Amir from Parwaaz Hai Junoon while film stars Armeena Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayesha Khan graced the occasion to support their friends and fraternity.

Famous VJ and RJ Dino Ali hosted the event and invited Sheikh Amjad Rasheed, chairman of the Distribution Club to speak. His company is distributing Rangreza in Pakistan (B4U will be doing it globally).

The film’s director Amir Mohiuddin thanked his team for believing in him; he told the audience how Akhtar Qayyum approached him with the film and how it became a reality thanks to the support of his wonderful cast.

One of the producers of the film and CEO of Munir Hussain Films, Munir Hussain then told the audience how he became part of the film, why he believes in Pakistani cinema and how it can achieve greatness in coming days. He reminded the audience that he was one of the producers of Janaan that did well in the United Kingdom, a trend that was followed by Punjab Nahi Jaungi as well.

Thanking Amir Mohiuddin and Akhtar Qayyum — the film’s director and producer — for being a great team, he said that one film can’t change the scenario, and cited examples from the lives of Warren Buffet and Nelson Mandela who overcame obstacles to achieve greatness.

The unveiling of the film’s trailer was preceded by performances by Asrar, J Ali and Hamza Qawwal who are part of the film’s soundtrack. The film’s cast comprising of Bilal Ashraf and Gohar Rasheed along with Urwa Hocane mesmerised the audience with their performances as well as their new look that prompted the attendees to ask for a repeat viewing.

The film is set to be released on December 21.
