Bank borrowings fall by 5.94pc

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended October 06, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,739.872bn after a 2pc decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs11,979.886bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs10,288.442bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 14.10pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,661.03bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs11,902.000bn, showing a fall of 2.02pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs78.842bn, higher by 1.23pc against previous week’s figure of Rs77.887bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,448.413bn, lower by 2.45pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,861.462bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 16.00pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs14,179.736bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,187.304bn, smaller by 2.50pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,600.876bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs261.109bn, were higher 0.20pc over the previous week’s Rs260.587bn.

Total assets were lower by 2.45pc over preceding week’s figure

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 5.94pc to Rs2,571.360bn against previous week’s Rs2,733.731bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1,882.417bn, current week’s figure is higher by36.60pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,485.490bn were lower by 6.14pc against previous week’s Rs2,647.965bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs85.870bn against the previous week’s Rs85.767bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,336.008bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,337.973bn smaller by 0.02pc.

Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,353.430bn, current week’s figure is higher by 13.36pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,272.437bn, lower by 0.06spc against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,277.335bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs63.571bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs60.638bn.
