Sami ready to work for Afghan peace

NOWSHERA: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Samiul Haq has shown his readiness to play his role for restoration of peace in Afghanistan.

In this regard, Afghan Ambassador Dr Omar Zakhilwal called on Maulana Samiul Haq at Darul Uloom-i-Haqqania, Akora Khattak, on Sunday where another Afghan diplomat, Zarwashat Shamis, was also present.

The meeting lasted about two hours.

A press release issued here by Darul Uloom Haqqania confirmed that both the leaders met at the Darul Uloom and discussed matters related to peace in Afghanistan.

It said that the Afghan ambassador urged the Maulana to play his role for restoration of peace in the war-torn country.

Samiul Haq said that peace in Afghanistan was need of the hour, as it was also in favour of Pakistan.

“The western powers don’t want to resolve the Afghan problem and they have been hindering restoration of peace.

They have created a war-like situation and disturbance in the whole Ummah,” the statement added.

Samiul Haq said that the Islamic countries and specially Pakistan should join hands with Afghanistan to restore peace in the region, as people had rendered unprecedented sacrifices against both America and Russia.

The Afghan ambassador assured Samiul Haq that they were ready to knock every door for restoration of peace in Afghanistan. In this regard, he also referred to his recent meeting with Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Samiul Haq said that Afghanistan and Pakistan were both Islamic countries and the atmosphere of mistrust between them should end.

He assured the ambassador that he would play his role to bring both the countries closer together.

Meanwhile, Nowshera police arrested 50 suspects and recovered two Kalashnikovs, one pistol, two hand grenades and 15 motorcycles in the ongoing search and strike operation.
