Six of a family killed in road accident

DADU: Six members of a family were killed and 40 others were injured when a mini-truck and a coach overturned while trying to save the vehicles from colliding head-on and fell into ditches along the Sehwan-Jamshoro section of the Indus Highway at Bhago Toro mountain near Lakky Shah Saddar town, 67 kilometres from here on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a tyre of the mini-truck deflated and the driver tried to save the vehicle from colliding with the speeding coach coming from the opposite direction.

The coach driver did the same and as a result both the vehicles went out of the drivers’ control, overturned and fell into roadside ditches, they said.

The six members of a family who were travelling in the mini-truck were identified as Ms Muskan Magsi, Haji Ghulam Nabi, Mohammad Yaseen, Ayaz Ali, Sajjad Ali and Riaz Magsi. They were all residents of Dahlil Dero village in Sakrand taluka.

The deceased and the injured were brought to hospitals in Sehwan and Nawabshah and LUMHS in Jamshoro. Those who were seriously injured were identified as Bilawal, Aijaz, Fahim Magsi, Qaim Khatoon, Sheena Magsi, Rani Magsi, Wahid Bux, Pir Bux and Rafiq.

SHO Ghulam Mustafa Tunio said that all the deceased were relatives.
