Rashid Malik remembered in condolence meeting

KARACHI: Glowing tributes were paid to the late president of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF) and the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) retired Brig Rashid Ali Malik at a condolence meeting that was convened at the Arambagh floodlit court on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, former international Mohammad Azam said he had the honour of playing together with Brig Rashid for Pakistan team for over a decade and found him to be a decent person.

He said Pakistan had lost a devoted sportsman and organiser in the death of Brig Rashid.

Former international and secretary of the Sindh Basketball Associtation, Abdul Nasir said basketball has been orphaned after the demise of the veteran cager.

Other officials of the game including KBA president Ghulam Mohammad, secretary Tariq Hussain, Mohammad Yaqoob and Amjad Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion and threw light on various aspects of life of their late president.

The condolence meeting also passed a resolution to launch an annual basketball event in his memory.

Organised by the Sindh and Karachi Basketball Association, the meeting was also attended by officials of various provincial sports associations, basketball players and organisers.

Later, fateha was offered for the departed soul.
