KHAR: The All Fata Students Forum (AFSF) and Fata Students Organisation on Saturday announced to ensure active participation in the planned sit-in outside the Parliament House on Oct 9 (Monday) to protest the delay in implementation of Fata reforms.

Talking to mediapersons here, AFSF central president Farhad Ali said that his organisation had decided to support the scheduled sit-in being organised by Fata lawmakers Shajee Gul Afridi and Shahabuddin Khan. He claimed that a large number of students from across Fata would participate in the sit-in against the delay in implementation of reforms in the tribal areas.

Mr Ali said that majority of students from areas, including Bajaur, Kurram, Orakzai and Waziristan agencies, would leave for Islamabad on Sunday evening (today).

The Fata Students Organisation has also finalised its plan to ensure maximum participation in the planned sit-in. Speaking to mediapersons here, FSO central vice-chairman Misbahuddin said that hundreds of students belonging to his organisation would participate in the Islamabad sit-in.

The leaders of political parties in Bajaur Agency have also accelerated their efforts to take a large number of people to the scheduled sit-in in Islamabad.

ELECTED: Haji Khan Bahadar was elected president of Khar Traders Association for two years during an election held on Saturday.

Mr Bahadar, who is also the general secretary of PPP local chapter, bagged 697 votes while his close competitor Haji Lali Shah of ANP obtained 628 votes.

According to the election committee, 2,185 shopkeepers of total over 5,000 cast their vote for which 60 polling booths were set up in different markets and bazaars.

Pakistan Peoples Party provincial vice -president Akhunzada Chattan also spoke on the occasion and termed holding of peaceful election the victory of democracy in the agency.
