Turkish FM favours deployment

ANKARA, Aug 22: Turkey’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul on Friday spoke out in favour of sending Turkish troops to Iraq to serve in an international security force as the country’s civilian and military leaders met to discuss the issue.

NATO member Turkey has yet to make a decision on whether to give military assistance to its key ally, the United States, at a time when many countries have expressed doubt over such a move in the face of the increasing attacks against US forces and aid workers in Iraq.—AFP
