RAWALPINDI: The divisional administration on Tuesday asked the building and road departments to complete all projects in NA-52 as soon as possible.

At a meeting of the Divisional Development Committee, acting commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal reviewed the development works in NA-52, the constituency of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The meeting was attended by Director Development Rukhsana Basheer, Director Colleges Malik Asghar besides officials of the highway and building departments.

A senior official of the local administration told Dawn that the meeting discussed pending projects in the constituency.

Construction of children’s hospital, sports complex, park and graveyard underway in NA-52

He said work was underway on the construction of a children’s hospital, sports complex, park and a graveyard worth Rs1.8 billion in the union councils of Rehmatabad, Dhoke Chaudhrian, Dhoke Munshi and Chaklala.

The official said different civic bodies were carrying out the development works.

The health department is working on the hospital, the Parks and Horticulture Authority is constructing the park while the building department has been given the task to construct the boundary wall of a graveyard.

“The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is working on the construction of a road from Rahimabad flyover to Chaklala railway station. The provincial government approved the project but failed to release the funds. The Rs300 million project will connect the park and sports complex with the Airport Road.”

He said work on the projects in the constituency was going on at a slow pace as the provincial government did not release sufficient funds.

However, the acting commissioner directed the departments concerned to complete the projects at the earliest.

Director Development Rukhsana Basheer informed the meeting that billions of rupees had been allocated for the health and education sectors besides focusing on the construction and upgradation of roads in the rural area.

“The rehabilitation of these roads will not only ensure the smooth flow of traffic but will also provide the residents with a better means of transportation,” she said.

Director Colleges Malik Asghar briefed the meeting about the projects in the division, especially in Chakwal.
