Two killed on road in Malakand

BATKHELA: Two persons were killed and 21 others injured when a passenger van plunged into a ravine at Malkand Pass here on Monday.

According to Levies officials at Daragai post, a van on way to Mardan from Timergara went out of the driver’s control due to over-speeding near the Malakand tunnel and plunged into a gorge.

As a result, two brothers — Rauf Syed and Khurshid — were killed on the spot, while 21 others sustained injuries, who were shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital, Dargai.

Three of the injured were referred to a hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.

The Malakand Levies and Al-Khidmath Foundation volunteers reached the site of the accident and participated in the rescue work.

The injured belonged to Maidan, Samarbagh, Wari, Timergara, Kohat and Chitral.

The Malakand Levies registered a case and started further investigation.
