Two killed, three wounded in Machhar Colony clash

KARACHI: A teenager was shot dead while his father and brother were wounded in a gunfight with neighbours over a trivial issue in Machhar Colony in the early hours of Friday, police said.

A passer-by was killed and another was wounded in the firing, the Docks police added.

Initially, a scuffle broke out among children from the neighbourhood over a minor issue that also provoked their elders to intervene, said Docks SHO Waqar Kaiser while speaking to Dawn.

During the exchange of fire, five persons sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced Mohammed Fayaz, 16, and a passer-by, Noor Azam, dead on arrival.

Fayaz’s father, Mohammad Hasan aka Sabir and his brother, Mohammed Ayaz, were also wounded. The condition of Hasan aka Sabir was stated to be serious, as he sustained three bullet wounds.

The other wounded person was identified as Mohammad Yunus, the police officer said, adding that they suspected him as one of the culprits. Initial investigation indicated that it was Yunus and the deceased, Fayaz, who initially scuffled with each other, which turned into a gunfight.
