Hockey trials for Asia Cup begin

KARACHI: The two-day trials to select the Pakistan team for next month’s Asia Cup hockey tournament kicked off at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

The opening day of the trials featured 35 probable players, who are attending the ongoing national camp.

The selectors observed the players in two sessions of 30-minutes each.

“We will go for three sessions on Wednesday aimed at checking the fitness of players,” former Olympian and a member of the selection committee, Ayaz Mahmood told Dawn.

Two other members of the committee, chief selector Hasan Sardar and Musaddiq Hussain were also in attendance.

The PHF president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and PHF secretary Shahbaz Ahmed also watched the trials.

The trials will continue on Wednesday from 4.00 pm.
