PECHS College, Neighbourhood Club in final

KARACHI: Fancied PECHS Girls College will face Neighbourhood Club in the final after winning their respective semi-finals in contrasting styles in the Sindh Sports Board (SSB) girls basketball tournament at the former’s college on Monday.

PECHS College stormed back into the last two quarters to turn the tables on Bahria College in a closely fought battle as the former won the match 30-26. The winners trailed 10-12 at half time.

Layla Khan and Huraina were the main scorers for the winners with the former scoring 16 and the latter 12.

Bahria College, on the other hand, depended on Naima Khan who despite scoring 20 points failed to steer her team to success as she could not get enough support from team-mates. Anosha scored four points.

Unlike the second semi-final, the first last-four clash between Neighbourhood Club and S.M.B Fatima Jinnah College turned out to be a one-sided affair with the former registering an emphatic 29-9 victory.

The winners led 16-3 at half time.

Neighbourhood’s success revolved around Naziha who scored 14 points. She was ably assisted by Hana and Rija Safdar who scored four points apiece. Naziha contributed six for the losers.

The final match will be played on Tuesday at 3:00pm.
