Land disputes claim three lives

TIMERGARA: Three persons were killed and nine injured in separate incidents of firing here the other day, police and residents said.

They said two persons were killed and nine injured when rivals exchanged fire over a land dispute in Kharkanai area.

Kamran of Osakai and Mushtaq of Batkhela were killed in the exchange of fire, while Adil, Murad, Javid, Sartaj, Hazrat Zaman, Jabir Khan, Lawar Khan, Umar Zeb and a passerby Bakht Zada were injured.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Chakdara and Batkhela where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

One of the injured, Umar Zeb, a resident of Osakai village, told police they were busy in construction work on a piece of land they had purchased from Alif Khan that the sons of the latter reached there in a car and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

Eyewitnesses said hearing the gunshots armed residents of Osakai reached the spot and opened fire on the attackers. The exchange of fire continued for some time. The personnel of Pak Army and police also rushed to the spot.

The Ouch police registered a case and started further investigation.

In another incident, a man identified as Amir Nawab was killed reportedly by his rivals in Samarbagh.

Amir Sajjad, son of the deceased, told police his family had a land dispute with a rival family in Shinjai area. He charged Amjad Ali, Imran, Sultan Hameed and Said Zaman for killing his father. He said the accused escaped the scene.

Meanwhile, a man named Kaki was killed and his brother, Wazir Khan was injured when a pickup plunged into a ravine in Asbanr Khawas area. The injured was shifted to hospital in Chakdara.
