Naheed asks voters to reject the tried and tested

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (Workers) central leader Naheed Khan has demanded across-the-board accountability for solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.

Speaking at the meeting of PPP (W) candidate Sajida Mir in NA-120, the political adviser to the slain Benazir Bhutto, Naheed Khan said the political parties which presented their manifestos full of promises for the bright future of the nation before the people prior to elections put them on the back burner after winning the elections.

She predicted that stalwarts of the big political parties would be defeated in the NA-120 by-polls as the voters would not get trapped this time round. “The people are aware of their political rights and they will cast their votes keeping their eyes on their own future,” Ms Khan said, and urged the people to vote for Sajida Mir who, she said, struggled hard for the supremacy of the democracy.

Former Senator Dr Safdar Abbasi said it was now time for the common people to show maturity in elections and if they did not choose the honest candidates they would regret. Mr Abbasi said 98 per cent suppressed class of society would come forward to defeat the two per cent political elite that was ruling this country for the last seven decades. He said the people of this constituency would cast their vote for integrity and honesty.

Dr Abbasi said during the door-to-door campaign they were getting vehement support from the voters.

Sajida Mir said she had struggled for the supremacy of democracy throughout her life. “When I was a sitting MPA in Punjab Assembly, I always raised my voice in favour of people,” she said.
