PTI to challenge ‘dubious votes’

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid says her party will challenge ‘29,000 dubious votes’ in court.

Intensifying her door-to-door election campaign on Saturday, Dr Yasmin said the Election Commission of Pakistan should provide the list of 29,000 unverified voters. She regretted that the ECP had so far not given any response to PTI’s petition about bogus votes.

Dr Rashid said the PML-N government was known for constructing underpasses within six months but it failed to complete the Surgical Tower at Mayo Hospital during the past nine years.

She lamented that the constituency, represented by disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was devoid of clean drinking water. People were compelled to purchase water for their needs, she said.

Alleging that Maryam was contacting people for votes under high security protocol, she said former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar was saying that Maryam was doing politics to save family’s monarchism.

Criticising former prime minister for having Iqama for 10,000 dirhams, Dr Rashid said the prime minister’s Rs3.2 million daily expenditure was being borne by the state from people’s tax money and he was not required to get visa to travel abroad as prime minister. She said Mr Sharif had obtained Iqama to open a bank account in tax-free zone.

“If Maryam Nawaz does not know the reality of obtaining Iqama, I challenge her to hold a debate on PTV,” she said.

Being a professor, she said, “I will explain you well, why your father was ousted and that he will be sent behind the bars.”
