Yasmin to continue campaign on Eid

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid has said she will continue her door-to-door election campaign on Eid to win a battle against the corrupt government.

After opening an election office at Saffanwala Chowk, Mozang, on Friday, Dr Rashid addressed a gathering of party workers and supporters and asserted that the PTI would transform Pakistan’s fate for the welfare of people.

She said the PTI was strictly following Election Commission’s code of conduct and not inviting any MNA to participate in the by-election campaign, while the PML-N campaigners were not moving without MNAs and ministers.

She said her party would hold an Eid Milan party on Sanda Road on Sept 4 followed by corner meetings in PP-140 from Sept 5 to 7.

Dr Rashid said the Election Commission was now all powerful after announcing election schedule, but it was not establishing its writ while checking the ruling PML-N that was blatantly violating the code of conduct.

MARYAM: Maryam Nawz visited St. Anthony’s Church at Regal Chowk on Friday and addressed the Christian community there.

Accompanied by federal and provincial ministers Kamran Michael, Saira Afzal Tarar and Khalil Tahir Sindhu, she also called on Bishop Sibastian Shaw.

She thanked the community for holding a prayer service for her mother, Begum Kulsoom, who underwent a successful throat cancer surgery in London a day ago, and said the former first lady was recovering fast because of prayers of the people.

Mrs Michael, on the eve, offered a shawl to Maryam.
